Om Shanti Shanti

Just a quick post to keep everyone updated! We haven’t had time the last week to take care of group things such as the blog because we’ve been staying at the beautiful Phool Chatti ashram in upper Rishikesh. The ashram overlooks the Ganges river from a bluff and has the perfect atmosphere for some serious reflection and spiritual exploration. Our days we’re jam-packed (5:30 am to 9 pm!) with yoga, chanting, meditation, delicious meals, karma yoga, and yogic cleansing (netti pot). Among some of the highlights were dunking in the freezing Ganges, swimming in the Him river nearby, doing a fire ceremony in which we chanted a mantra 108 times, and walking to a magnificent waterfall. Personally, my favorite part was the bonfire we had as a retreat group on the last night. We all bundled up and headed to the banks of the Ganges where we lit a massive fire and drank tea and chatted. Many countries were represented at our retreat and the groups from each country prepared songs and sang them. It was something truly unique and special. Additionally, many of enjoyed silence from morning until after lunch. This experience was something pretty specific to ashram life and we each gained some insight into ourselves from these quiet hours.
Now we are back in bustling but relaxed Rishikesh, ready to enjoy some free time before heading to Jaipur for homestays!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving (we’re all wishing we could be home that day)!
Namaste, Leine
