More Student Directed Travel updates

After a tough week of work in the Amazon we returned back to Puerto Maldonado a small river town. There we decided to splurge on a hostal that was slightly out of our budget but a neccesary luxury. The hostal Anaconda Lodge featured large lodge type rooms with private bathrooms, warm water, comfy beds, a gorgeous pool, the best thai food in Peru, and best of all monkeys. It was great being able to relax for a few days in style (relative to where we were staying previously). After two days of 90 degree weather and great thai food we caught an 11 hour bus ride back to Cusco and from Cusco to Ollatatambo. Ollatambo is where we spent the bulk of our student directed travel and while there we did a series of hikes to the ruins outside of the town as well as a mountain biking venture. One day we took a bus to the neighboring town and explored the market and did another hike to Incan ruins. Lots of ruins and hiking. We are set to leave today for one day in Puno exploring lake Titicaca.
