Bula Vinaka Family and Friends!
We have just completed our first week in Togalevu village on the western side of Viti Levu island, Fiji! Our week started with a traditional welcome from the villagers, which included a hearty serving of kava, the traditional root drink used in special ceremonies. Shortly after, we were introduced to our host families and brought to our new homes. The following days were spent building a new fence around the village kindergarten and getting to know our host families. We have fallen head over heels with the Fijian culture and the community that is hosting us. The energy and the enthusiasm of the village children have kept us busy during our down time in between work and the amazing meals that have been provided for us. After working in the blazing sun, we have happily been jumping into the river to cool down. It’s hard to believe a week has already passed, but we are looking forward to another incredible week of adventures to come!
