I will be home for Christmas

Dear Family and Friends,
This past week, we have been on Zanzibar in Stonetown. When we arrived here, we went to see the historic slave market. That was very tough because the slaves were kept in horrible conditions. They were kept in this small room, waiting to be auctioned off.
The same day, we went on a spice tour as well! Everything we touched was edible. It was a kid’s dream come true, like Willy Wonka! Some of the spices and fruits we saw were coffee, tamarind, licorice, almond, lemongrass, star fruit, cacao, cinnamon, and so many more.
During our time here, we have gotten to explore the lovely Stone Town. It looks like a labyrinth because the streets go straight then turn and turn. They wind all over the place and there are alleys everywhere. It is super easy to get lost. It feels like you are everywhere in the world because the vibe of the streets change. There are so many mzungu (foreigner) places to go grab coffee or to shop, but you can also discover so many hidden local cafes and shops that get you much better deals and a great relationship with the vendors (especially if you converse in Kiswahili!). There are also so many blends of food here, which all have a little Zanzibar spice added, making them totally unique.
The last days here, we have been SCUBA diving. The first day of class we had orientation which lasted a long time, the second day we were in the pool with the SCUBA gear, and the third and fourth days were in the ocean. We saw so many colorful fish. Some were in schools, others were brave enough to come right in front of your face, there were even nemo fish in sea anemones, sea turtles and so much more. On the last day of Scuba some of us went snorkeling instead. We saw Jelly fishes that stung us and the water was as clear as a crystal ball. Sunday was very special because it was our closing meal. That evening, we went to an island and watched the sunset. Then we had a lovely dinner with the view of the ocean. To close up the evening was a movie. Now, we are getting ready to pack and are getting excited to see our family and friends back at home.
Thank you friends and family for following our blog.
We hope to see you all very soon!
