Tan lines fade, memories last forever

To all the avid readers of the Hongi group blog, I am sad to report that this is the final post. We have spent the past week immersed in the Daintree Rainforest passing the time practicing yoga, meditation, and inner reflection. It’s safe to say that the heaviest thought on everyone’s mind is our impending goodbye. There is the constant chatter of what people’s flight details, what our first meal will be, readjusting to “real life”, and of course, saying goodbye to 13 bestfriends.

It’s crazy to think that just three months ago we arrived to the airport as strangers each with preconcieved ideas of fellow group members, and now we are here. We are as close as a family each with their own special dynamic they add to the group. How are we supposed to leave this behind? What am I going to do without all of you? These are all questions that each of us have but remained unanswered. However, one thing we all must remember is that this is not the end. The memories we share, our close friendships, and all the skills we have gained will not disappear when we clear customs in LA. They will continue to grow and lead us on to many new adventures in the future.

There is a saying that says how lucky we are that makes saying goodbye so hard; I couldn’t be more lucky to have met these 13 amazing people.

With love,
Olivia and the Hongi group
