Daintree Fun

Hello folks!
For the past week we have been staying at Austrop in the beautiful Daintree Rainforest, where we have been involved in various rainforest conservation projects. Throughout the mornings and afternoons we either weeded, planted, or cut down coconut trees to increase the forests biodiversity. While doing these jobs, we have gotten the opportunity to see many of the animals that call the rainforest their home. We saw spiders the size of our faces, green ants that bite yet apparently taste like green apple candy, fuzzy white poisonous caterpillars, and birds the size of me that kill people known as Cassowaries. Although Hugh, the owner of Austrop, says the Daintree is one of the safest rainforests in the world, we all remain just as squeamish and scared of the animals (especially the boys…). At Austrop, the main goal is to be as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible to not only give back to the environment but also appreciate the way of a simple lifestyle. Although we have had an awesome week giving back to the environment, we are excited for a relaxing week at the yoga retreat and to enjoy a laugh or two watching the boys attempt some yoga.

Hello to my crazy friends and family back home! Love you all to the moon and back!
