Special Needs Education Center

Hello friends and family! Reporting from SNEC- Special Needs Education Center- 30 kilometers outside of Kabale. It’s hard to believe we’re almost 3 weeks into our 3 month adventure!

After a fun weekend rafting on the Nile, we bussed to Kampala, and on Monday morning, embarked on a 9 hour bus ride to Kabale. As we prepared for our long week of volunteering at one of Uganda’s few schools for special needs children, we spent a fun two days exploring the sights and sounds of Kabale.

SNEC has been amazing so far. All of the children are very friendly and adorable. It has been humbling to learn and experience the joy that these children bring despite their often sad and challenging personal upbringings with special needs in rural Uganda. So far, we have painted the school’s new carpentry workshop and spent many very fun hours playing with the children. Tomorrow, Monday, we will bus back to Kabale to prepare for our three day canoe/backpacking trek on/around Lake Bunyoni. Stay tuned for more updates!
