Over the last week we’ve stepped into the shoes of a farmer spending mornings milking cows, feeding pigs, and collecting eggs. Greg and Rachel Hart welcomed us into their lakeside lodge showing us a glimpse into their daily lives on the farm. Rachel taught us new amazing recipes to take back home filled with fresh ingredients and love. We worked with Greg to create new trails through the rolling green sheep filled hills of New Zealand. We also did some landscape restoration around the lake to help prevent erosion. Lisa, a women who lived on the farm, taught us to make fresh pesto from weeds we pulled and taught us about biodynamic farming. We made some amazing food throughout the week such as delicious pumpkin soup and fresh homemade pizza from their outside oven. Every day before dinner, we would do a gratitude circle and say what we were grateful for. We felt so comfortable and we grew so quickly in our connections to not only the outdoors of their beautiful farmland, but to each other.
