Pink City!

By Mayana Gibbs

After a few days exploring Delhi, it was finally time to move onto our next adventure in Jaipur! We got on the five-hour train at 6:00 am and arrived in the late afternoon at our homestays. We got to see and explore the Amber palace and got to see elephants, monkeys, and camels!

We then had the opportunity to learn some Hindi, which was very useful and exciting, and we are currently still learning more. For two mornings in a row we got up early to do yoga, which woke us up for the day and put smiles on our faces. We got to see how paper is made with cotton and how pottery and prints are made on fabric.

We have had a lot of free time to explore Jaipur; it is a beautiful city. We were fortunate enough to take a trip to the Barefoot College and be inspired by the Solar Mamas (GIRL POWER!!!) Our last day in Jaipur was very exciting because we got to go to the Folk Arts Colony to dance with the children and beautiful women! We got to make jewelry with them and put smiles on their faces, as well!

We all enjoyed staying with our host families and their lovely cooking but it was time to say goodbye and to move onto our next adventure (ALREADY!!??) We took an overnight train to Udaipur which is where we are currently. We are looking forward to making more memories and connections as the time goes by.
