Ohana Amani

Hi everyone, Becky here
Sorry for the late post, but from November 16 to November 24, we were at Ohana Amani. This beautiful organic farm is home to two sisters, Curry and Chevy. They are the wonderful people who set up our home stays. We spent two days with them before our home stays. They helped prepare us with Swahili tips and information about what to expect. They also filled us with delicious organic food. After our home stays, we were at Ohana Amani for another two days. We worked in the garden and the kitchen, learning about where our food comes from and how it arrives on our plates. We talked a lot about the difference between food and food-like substances. For example, is a twinkie really food? Let us know what you think when we get back. We also got to meet the two incredible women staying with Curry and Chevy, Shannon and Hannah. The four of them taught us a lot about how to live with intention and take control of your life. They all helped prepare us for student directed travel, which has gone excellently so far.
Love from Africa,
Becky
