Island Life

Written By Madison, Latitudes Year ’20 Thailand

Hello from COREsea, in beautiful Koh Pha-ngan-, Thailand. The island of Koh Pha-ngan is like a sense from a movie. At COREsea Jackson, Lily and myself have been hard at work. During diving we have been doing fish surveyā€™s, coral bleaching surveys, coral identification and coral predator surveys. On conservation Friday’s, we pick up trash on the beach and take out plastic and fishing nets from the coral reefs. On our days off, Jackson, lily, myself and the other volunteers here, like to chill at the beach or go to Thong Sala, a town in the south of the island to explore. There are also some very pretty hikes and waterfalls here. One of my favorite restaurants here is karacked, it has the best mango sticky rice. Every Sunday I like to go to the night market by the pier. There is live music and lots of food stands.
