Portland!

Shangu and I arrived in Portland just 11 days ago, but in someways time has flown by and in other way it seems like months ago that I stepped off the train in Portland and made my way over to where we were doing out staff training and prep. Ā Our days have been a mix of getting to know this crazy, beautiful, diverse, passionate, inspiring group of other Overseas Educators and learning the in’s and out’s of our itineraries, a wilderness medicine certification and occasionally necessary, but not so inspiring things, like budgeting. Ā I wanted to share a photo I snapped one morning. Ā It was the first day of school in Portland and we had been challenged to do a random act of kindness for someone. Ā It was part of a scavenger hunt. Ā Carpe Diem loves scavenger hunts. Ā In this photo Shangu is buying two bouquets of flowers to give to two special (but random) teachers at Jefferson High School, just down the street from Carpe Diem HQ. Ā The other person you see in the photo actually let us into the store early to help us out with our task. Ā We really appreciated that.
